Weeping Giant
3D illustration as a storytelling tool
You can tell a story in different ways. We chose the one that needs no words. One ordinary evening can take an unexpected turn. And then the mundane will mix with the mystical and the calm with the spooky.
WHAT'S INSIDE?
Rainy evening. Near the railway station in the industrial district of the city stands a strange, by the looks of it abandoned, gallery. Why is it so attractive?
A strange feeling inside suggests that it’s going to be an unusual evening. No one inside. I noticed two sculptures. The plaques indicate that the author is unknown.
The sculpture below is «Weeping Giant»
«Every time a human dies at war, the Giant weeps. The sculpture is installed in a standing position, so the first drop will fall to its feet. Tears will fill the container until they completely cover the Giant. This will mean the beginning of dark times».
The sculpture above «Thieves of the teardrops»
«There will always be people in the world ready to make money out of tears»
THE TRAIN IS COMING
I cannot take my eyes off the Giant, who seems to be looking right back at me. Thoughts are interrupted by the vibration of a high-speed train passing by. Time to go home.
WHAT IS IT?
This project is an exploration of what results can be achieved with 3D illustration. We used it to tell a short yet incredibly atmospheric story.
These images work like movie stills. They, like puzzles, are assembled for the viewer into a complete picture — they tell about the events, convey the mood of the character and the environment, and highlight their interaction. And all this thanks to the details.
